Josh, Anne-Marie, and Aylia Colwell’s Gazette

One of the things I anticipated with a move to east Orlando was the opportunity to see rocket launches from our own back yard (literally). For STS-120 we were on the UCF campus, 2 miles from home, and saw the shuttle ascend to orbit from the parking garage. Although we were much further from the launch pad than for the last shuttle launch, somehow this was cooler. There is a definite sci-fi vibe to just stepping outside and seeing a rocket go into space.
